NORTH BALI, Indonesia (August 2008)

It is always a pleasure to spend time in Bali. It embodies everything which is good about Indonesia, with the relaxed atmosphere of Hindu attitudes. As I have to fly through either Jakarta or Bali to get to the Wakatobi Marine National Park, I always try to spend at least a few days here. This year I was lucky to spend just over a week on Bali, and managed to fit in three dives whilst staying at Alam Anda dive resort on the island's north coast. The first two dives were on the Liberty Wreck at Tulumben, whilst the third was on the Alam Anda home reef.

This was my first experience of a wreck dive and, although perhaps not a true wreck experience as there was no penetration, I found it extremely useful in developing my photography. Unfortunately being limited to only three dives due to time constraints, it felt a bit too rushed than I would have liked. It would have been nice to get the chance to get to know the sites and have the opportunity to experiment a little more with the images I took. Despite this however, I managed to take a number of images I am happy with, allowing me to build on my portfolio and gain invaluable experience of taking photographs under a range of conditions. You can see a selection of these images here.

In terms of equipment, I chose to use two lenses with my Canon 400D, namely the Canon 15mm Fisheye and the Canon 60mm Macro. The two Sea & Sea YS-110 strobes were used on all dives.
